Foodspotting Acquired by OpenTable for $10 Million

The judges for the 2012 Toque Food App Awards loved the visual manner in which foodies could find great eats near them by looking at pictures taken from other customers using the network. In fact, Foodspotting won the award for Best Food Locator. Apparently OpenTable, the online reservation company, loved the app too. Last week OpenTable announced they have acquired Foodspotting for $10 million and will integrate the dish photos into their website and mobile site (some have already begun appearing). OpenTable also plans to harness the social sharing expertise of the Foodspotting team to help diners connect, recommend and discover great food.
