Toque Culinary Jobs of the Week: Dec. 13-17, 2010

1. At first glance this Chef position at an LA cafe might seem kinda ordinary. But if you know that xokolatl means chocolate…Mexican chocolate…the kind that seduces with its sweet and spicy-hot flavor…it’s rather easy to think of a less exciting place to dream up great food. Xokolatl Cafe.

2. Never been to the The Swag luxury inn, or even North Carolina’s Smoky Mountains. But any bed-and-breakfast job post  using the word “culinarily” as an adverb and demanding at least 5 years as an executive chef has guts…and quite possibly a killer job waiting. Executive Chef.

You too could be gazing on this while making pastries with Marc Aumont.

3. Pastry cooks needed at Danny Meyer’s much-anticipated restaurant MODERN, at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC. Chance to work with Marc Aumont and gaze out at MOMA’s incredible Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden.

4. When it comes to notable restaurant launches, Is DC the new NYC? Hill Country Barbecue Market seems to think so. 32-year-old CEO Marc Glosserman made his fortune in telecom then decided New York needed some authentic Texas ‘cue. He was right. Now the expanding company is looking for a Chef de Cuisine/Senior Pit Master to fire up the grills for its winter 2011 opening in DC. Don’t mess with Texas.
